HYBRID SUBMISSION NO-GI GRAPPLING
No-Gi is grappling without the traditional uniform (gi). Instead of a gi,
you wear tight, rashguard type clothing because in this form of jiu jitsu, you cannot grab your opponent’s clothing. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and self-defense system that can be used by anyone. Learn how to defend yourself
while getting into the best shape of your life. BJJ techniques are practical moves, and countermoves, that can teach a smaller or weaker opponent to defend themselves against a larger or stronger opponent.
MEET SETH COLWELL
As a first-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt under professor Juan Guevara, Seth has spent the last 16 years training and teaching grappling arts. He has a competitive background in MMA and has used Jiu-Jitsu in virtually every rule set from points-based competition in the Gi and no-gi, to sub-only no-gi as well.
Professor Seth has been a lifelong athlete first introduced to martial arts at a young age. He spent most of his youth playing football and baseball, and then in 2006 found his way into a gym where he began his journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts.
Professor Seth also trained extensively in Muay Thai, boxing, and MMA before his love for grappling led him to focus primarily on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has had the opportunity to train with world-class grapplers such as Craig Jones, Rigan Machado, and also Bob Bass, the first American to receive a blackbelt under the Machado brothers. Seth’s approach to no-gi submission grappling was heavily influenced by his time spent training at 10th Planet Atlanta under head instructor and Eddie Bravo blackbelt Sean Applegate.
As the founder of Hybrid Nogi, Seth is able to use his passion to help others enhance their quality of life through the benefits of Jiu-Jitsu. His love for teaching and his enthusiasm for submission grappling provide an exciting and challenging program suitable for all skill levels.
