When I first started training I was a young dumb kid who just wanted to fight and smash people and didn't have much interest in really learning Jiu-Jitsu or probably learning anything if I'm being honest. Juan stuck with me through those years and helped me in any way I asked even though I'm sure I had to be one of the most frustrating students he ever had. Eventually I got a older and slightly less dumb and finally realized some of what Jiu-Jitsu was really about and Juan was still there to support me and help me along the path. Training with Juan has made me a better teacher and coach and a better man. Somewhere along the way we became more than just teacher and student and more than just friends, we became family.
Professor Juan has trained me for five years. Through injuries and plateaus, promotions and tournament medal podiums. He has influenced me in my physical fitness, personal discipline, and so many other areas of my life beyond Jiu-Jitsu, as well. He is an excellent teacher, responsible mentor, and wonderful friend.
