Kristi grew up in Holcomb, Mississippi where she was a high-school track runner, all-state basketball player, and a five-time national title holder in baton twirling. She began teaching baton twirling and dance classes as a young teen. Since then, she has never stopped including physical fitness as an important part of her life.

She enjoyed teaching and coaching and loved inspiring young women to be their best in every area of life. At sixteen, Kristi was crowned Miss Mississippi Teen USA and went on to be crowned Miss Teen USA. Through national and international travel, she was able to help motivate young women to set goals and reach for the stars.

While attending college at The University of Mississippi, Kristi performed as a Featured Twirler for the Pride of the South Marching Band and the Ole Miss Rebelette Dance Squad. While being named on the Dean’s Honor Roll, she graduated with a B.S. from the School of Journalism.

Kristi then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in the entertainment industry where she worked as a fitness model. She filmed commercials for names such as Reebok, Sunkist, and more. In LA, she married the love of her life, Jeff Hickman. After having two beautiful children, their family (always Southerners at heart and fans of SEC football!) relocated to Georgia to be nearer to family.

Kristi has continued to cultivate her dream of encouraging others spiritually, emotionally, and mentally through physical fitness. She believes that physical fitness is vital to our overall health and well-being. She has been a Group Fitness Instructor for over 15 years and currently teaches the exercise formats of Barre and Yoga at Compound Fitness.

Kristi’s BARRE CLASSES are intended to provide an hour of full-body sculpting for each muscle group. The movements are designed to lengthen and stretch the muscles while simultaneously building stamina and strength. A ballet barre, light weights, and floor exercises on the mat are all combined in this class. Due to the isometric style of workout, you will continue to burn calories for up to an hour after a Barre workout. This is a great class to help both weight loss and toning muscles.

Kristi’s YOGA CLASSES are conducive for beginner through intermediate levels of experience. Her classes combine basic elements of different yoga forms such as Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Anasura, Iyengar, and Power yoga. Her classes are designed to be easy to follow while:

* aligning your body correctly in poses
* promoting energy flow
* improving alignment
* strengthening mind-body connection
* reducing stress
* improving concentration
* strengthening muscles
* improving flexibility

Compound Fitness yoga is suitable for everyone while promoting both physical and mental well-being. If you enjoy a positive, heart-centered approach to yoga, consider including it in your fitness routine. Kristi believes it’s important to diversify your workout to get the best out of your body. Her goal is for each student that leaves her classes to feel strengthened, empowered, and joyful!
