When I first came to a Zumba class I had no idea what it even was! I had just moved here from Southern California, where my daily exercise was going on a run in the constantly pleasant and mostly sunny weather. In fact, I have pictures of my young daughters sitting in Santa’s lap in shorts and flip-flops. After moving to Georgia, I had a rude awakening when I tried to head out my front door for a run at some point during the month of November. The same thing happened in the summer months.

Basically, the California weather had made me soft and I had to find something fun, yet strenuous to do indoors. I tried multiple group exercise classes and didn’t really fall in love with anything. I tried spending my hours in the gym on the treadmill or the bike and found myself bored out of my mind. Then, on the schedule, I saw that word ZUMBA. At that point I was desperate, so I decided to try it even though I had no idea what it was. Let’s just say that an hour later I was hooked and ever since then I have never stopped loving Zumba! That was at least 15 years ago.

So, my point is that you may find a new workout medium that you never knew you would love as I did at Zumba. It’s aerobic, it’s high energy, and it’s an amazing full-body workout. Yes, it’s dancing, but you don’t have to have any dance experience or background.  I’ll give you the basic steps and you can follow me. Just imagine dancing at a house party to loud popping music. It doesn’t really matter how you move as long as you move! Come join our little Zumba tribe for a class and find out for yourself how much fun you can have while working out!
